One company for the whole system

Heating, cooling and hot water are all the same system as far as your house is concerned. We’d rather you called one company than three.

Most common

Furnaces

Gas, electric and high-efficiency. Won’t ignite, blowing cold, short-cycling, or making a noise it wasn’t making last winter.

Heat pumps

Ductless mini-splits, ducted and cold-climate systems, in both heating and cooling mode. Not heating, not cooling, or iced up outside and never clearing.

Boilers

Combi, system and conventional. No heat or hot water, cold radiators, pressure dropping every week, or a fault code sitting on the panel.

Air conditioning

Ducted central air and ductless. Running but not cold, weak or patchy cooling, leaking water, or icing up on the lines.

Water heaters

Tanks and tankless, gas and electric. No hot water at all, runs out far too quickly, leaking, or making noises it didn’t used to make.

Most urgent

Not sure which it is?

Plenty of Metro Vancouver homes run a heat pump with a gas furnace as backup, and the thermostat looks much the same either way. Tell us what the house is doing and we’ll work it out with you on the call.

If it turns out to be a different unit than you thought

One $99 Repair Diagnostic covers working that out. The same technician covers heating, cooling and hot water, so if the fault turns out to be a different unit than you expected, it is still handled on that visit. You are not booked in again and charged for a second diagnostic.

Mom's Upfront Pricing™

How the $99 Repair Diagnostic works

A proper diagnosis first, then a repair price you approve before anyone touches anything.

Tell us what it’s doing

Call us or use the short form. No heat, strange noise, leaking, won’t turn on. That’s enough to start.

Book your $99 Repair Diagnostic

We schedule a Mom’s technician to properly diagnose the system rather than guessing what has failed.

We find the actual problem

The technician checks the system and explains plainly what is wrong and what the options are.

You get the repair price before work begins

If it can be repaired, we give you the price before you authorize anything. If replacement genuinely makes more sense, we explain why and leave the decision to you.

What the $99 Repair Diagnostic covers

  • A licensed Mom’s technician at your home, not a call-center guess.
  • A proper diagnosis of what has actually failed, rather than the most likely cause from a description.
  • Your options explained in plain language, including whether repair or replacement is the better call.
  • The repair price before any repair work begins. Nothing proceeds without your approval.

The $99 is the diagnostic itself and is separate from the cost of any repair.

You get a person, not a phone tree

Tell us what it’s doing and we’ll get your $99 Repair Diagnostic booked with the right technician for the job.

What passes the Mom's Test?

The company was built around one promise: give every homeowner the same care, honesty and effort Venice would want for his own mom.

  • Find the actual problem. Start with a diagnosis, not a sales pitch.
  • Explain the options plainly. Repair or replacement, with the reasoning, and no pressure either way.
  • Respect the home. Booties on, pets minded, and the mess cleaned up before we go.
  • Recommend only what makes sense. Our technicians aren't paid on commission, so nobody earns more by selling you a system.

The diagnosis comes first

We find out what has actually failed, then give you the repair price before any repair work begins. You approve it, or you don’t.

Our techs aren't on commission

Nobody on our team earns more by selling you a system you don't need. They're paid to fix the thing you called about.

30-day parts & labour warranty

If something related to our work goes wrong, we come back and put it right. No hassle, no charge.

We treat every home like Mom's

Because Mom raised us right, and because the owner's own mother is the standard we're measured against.

Who turns up at your door

You're letting someone into your home on the strength of a number you can't audit. So here's exactly who's coming.

  • A marked truck and a Mom's uniform. You'll recognize the van before you open the door.
  • No repair work starts without your approval. You get the repair price first, and the decision stays yours.
  • Licensed, bonded and insured. Gas and refrigerant work in BC both require it.
  • All makes and models. Heating, cooling or hot water, whatever brand is on it, we’re not going to turn up and tell you we don’t work on yours.
  • The owner's name is on it. Venice built the company around his own mother, and still shows up in the photos.

“To have them accommodate the way they did with their above-and-beyond efforts is truly astonishing. 100% white glove service. I was also quite pleased with super sharp pricing, they literally charged almost half of what I paid previously for a much lesser service. 10/10!”

Ready to find out what yours will cost?

Is it worth repairing, or is it time to replace?

We’d rather tell you straight than sell you something. This applies across all of it, furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, air conditioning and water heaters.

Usually worth repairing

  • The unit is still within its normal service life
  • It’s a single failed component rather than the core of the system
  • It has been serviced reasonably regularly
  • It worked properly right up until it stopped
  • Parts for the make and model are still readily available

Worth at least discussing replacement

  • The unit is well past its normal service life and this isn’t its first failure
  • The most expensive single part has gone, the compressor, the heat exchanger, or the tank itself
  • Parts are discontinued or have to be ordered from overseas
  • Repairs are stacking up season after season
  • You were already considering replacement
Venice Tabernero, founder of Mom’s Heating & Cooling, beside heating and cooling equipment

Either way, the decision is yours and it happens after you have real information, not while a technician is waiting in your hallway. If replacing genuinely is the better call, we’ll say so, explain why, and leave you to think about it.

If replacement is the better call, we help with that too

If the diagnostic shows your system has reached the point where replacing it is the better decision, you don’t get handed a brochure and left to it.

  • Which BC energy rebates your home may qualify for. The programs change, so we check what is current rather than quoting last year’s number.
  • Which systems actually meet the program requirements. Not every unit qualifies, and the difference is worth real money.
  • Rebate paperwork, handled with you. Mom’s is a program-registered contractor for eligible heat-pump upgrades under the Better Homes BC Energy Savings Program.
  • Repair cost against replacement cost, side by side, including any rebates that apply, so you can see the real difference before deciding.
“Never give a customer advice we wouldn't give our own mother.”

The questions we get asked most

What is this going to cost me?

The Repair Diagnostic is $99. That covers having a Mom’s technician properly identify what is wrong with your system and explain your options.

If a repair is needed, we give you the repair price before any repair work begins. Nothing gets done without your approval.

What will I actually be charged?

You pay $99 for the Repair Diagnostic. The diagnostic fee is separate from the repair and is not credited toward the repair cost.

If you decide to go ahead, we explain the repair price first and you decide whether to authorize it. If something genuinely unexpected changes the scope once work has started, we stop, explain it, and get your approval before doing anything further.

How quickly can you get here?

It depends on the day and how deep into a cold snap we are. We'd rather tell you honestly on the phone than promise a window on a web page we might not hit.

Call 604-260-2977 and we'll tell you what we can actually do today.

Which systems do you actually work on?

Furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, air conditioning and water heaters. Gas and electric, ducted and ductless, tanks and tankless. Residential across Metro Vancouver. If it heats, cools or makes hot water in your home, it’s ours.

You're in Burnaby, so do you actually come to Vancouver?

Yes. Vancouver, North Vancouver and West Vancouver are all in our regular service area, along with Burnaby, Richmond, the Tri-Cities, Surrey, Delta, Langley, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, New Westminster and White Rock.

Is the technician going to try to sell me a new system?

No. Our technicians aren't paid on commission, so there's nothing in it for them. Their job is to fix the thing you called about.

If your system genuinely is at the end of its life, we'll tell you that too, but as information, not as a pitch, and not while you’re standing there with no heat and no time to think.

Is the repair covered by anything?

Every repair comes with a 30-day parts and labour warranty. If something related to our work goes wrong in that window, we come back and put it right at no charge. An extended labour warranty is also available. Ask us about it on the call.

What if it turns out I need a replacement, not a repair?

Then you'll hear it plainly, with the reasoning, and you'll have time to think about it. There's no pressure to decide anything on the spot.

BC also runs meaningful rebate programs on efficient heat pump systems, and we help customers with that paperwork, but that's a separate conversation for a separate day, not something to sort out while your house is cold.

What actually happens after I send the form?

A real person calls you back, asks a few questions about what the system is doing, and arranges your $99 Repair Diagnostic.

The technician then identifies the actual problem onsite and gives you your options and the repair price before any repair work begins.

If you’d rather skip the wait entirely, call 604-260-2977.
